2017 Life is Rosè
Light bright and refreshing. Dried strawberries, Nice currant and bright fruit flavors give way to a bright crisp finish.
Our lightest Rose yet. A delicate pink color reminiscent of Provence. Strawberry and stone fruit notes abound. The flavors are crisp and bright. Think dried cherries with a spicy finish.
The plantings for our Barbera were first established in 2003. The block sits high upon the Coyote Canyon Vineyard overlooking the vineyard to the south. This block works wonderfully for our Rose. The grapes develop great flavors and maintain lots of natural acidity to give us the crisp backbone we want in the wine.
Hand picked grapes were delivered to the winery hours after picking. They were quickly loaded into the press and put into stainless steel tanks to cold settle. The wine was then racked clean and fermented slowly at a cool temperature. After fermentation the wine aged for a few months prior to filtration and bottling.
I'm finally hitting the mark where I want it with this Rose. Virtually no soak time doesn't allow the wine to pick up much color or tannin from the grape skins. The acidity really shines through on this wine and it has a unique aromatic quality coming from the Barbera grape. I love the strawberry notes on this wine. It is so bright and refreshing.
Think summer salad or chicken fried oysters with a spicy aioli sauce.
